Michaelmas Lecture Course
For the Michaelmas Term we are very pleased to announce that the Lecture Series will comprise a course of lectures entitled "Buddhist Iconography through the Three Vehicles" by Jeff Watt. Jeff is the Director and Chief Curator of Himalayan Art Resources (HAR), a website and 'virtual museum' featuring more than 40,000 images with detailed descriptions, making it the most comprehensive resource for Himalayan 'style' art and iconography in the world.
The lectures may be attended singly. However, the maximum benefit will come from attending the whole series as it builds into a comprehensive course. They will run on Mondays during term time.

New book by Rob Mayer and Cathy Cantwell
We would like to bring your attention to a new book published by one of our Fellows.
A Noble Noose of Methods, the Lotus Garland Synopsis. A Mahāyoga Tantra and its Commentary - is the new book published by Rob Mayer and Cathy Cantwell.
The inspiration for this volume is one of the most celebrated documents retrieved from the ancient cave library in Dunhuang: a tantric commentary in 85 folios together with its root text, and prolific marginal annotations that are not found elsewhere. It provides our most reliable and comprehensive window into the ritual and doctrinal world of the early Nyingmapa. Among much else, it offers an unparalleled early representation of Padmasambhava, a detailed presentation of fundamental Nyingma tantric views later endorsed by Rongzom and Longchenpa, and citations attributed to numerous other Nyingma tantras.
