The Oxford Centre for Buddhist Studies

The OCBS was established in 2004. It promotes the academic study within the University, and elsewhere, of Buddhist texts, societies, theories and practices. It is committed to maintaining the highest academic standards.

The OCBS also aims to promote understanding of the importance of Buddhist insights across a wide range of academic disciplines; and to work in partnership with leading institutions to apply approaches derived from studying Buddhism to contemporary issues.

What OCBS Does

  • Provides online and in person teaching in aspects of Buddhist Studies
  • Holds conferences and lecture series, and sponsors guest lectures
  • Publishes the OCBS Monograph Series and the Journal of the Oxford Centre for Buddhist Studies
